Winter Equals Indoor Exercise
Posted by Caitlin Norton
Winter is hard for everyone. Unless you absolutely love cold weather, which is not me, then exercising is not on the top of my list of things do during the winter months. If you want to brave the elements, then I suggest checking out these tips. For the rest of us here, are simple exercises we can do in the warmth of the indoors.
Whether it’s on a track, a treadmill, or around your home, grab your music player or crank up the stereo and walk for the amount of time you would normally walk outside.
If you have never done a calf raise before, then I recommend starting with a smaller number. Simply stand on your tip-toes and lower your heel down, hovering before you touch the floor then go back on your toes. By spring, make it your goal to do them through a whole commercial break.
Do lunges up and down the length of a room or hallway. I always feel the burn in my legs with this move. If it starts to get to early then add some weights to make it more challenging.
Jumping Jacks definitely do an elementary school throwback, but these offer a great cardio workout. Do as many as you can during a commercial break, and try to increase that number each break.
The Plank helps to build your core muscles. There are different moderations of this exercise, so find one that works best for you.
If these are not enough, try this circuit out while you are watching TV.
